NC Configurator2 parameter comparison: recording differences before and after repair

Published Updated

Parameter comparison can document data changed during repair. Based on the NC Configurator2 manual, check project and model correspondence, export differences and understand what a comparison cannot establish.

If machine behaviour changes after repair, first ask which parameters were modified. A handwritten list can miss axis numbers, units and provenance. When organizing differences with NC Configurator2, connect the old data, current data and reasons for changes; do not directly write another machine's file into this machine.

What the tool can establish

This article follows IB-1501046-M. The tool manages NC information in .nc2 projects, and comparison differences can be printed or exported as CSV. The manual also excludes safety parameters from this comparison and lists supported series combinations. A result with no differences therefore does not mean that all machine data and safety functions are identical.

Preserve both versions before comparison

Archive a read-only copy of a pre-repair file already confirmed usable, then save current data in a separate project. Label the folder with machine identifier, control series, acquisition time and operator. Do not overwrite the old file and only then discover there is no baseline. Do not label parameters from an unknown same-model machine as original manufacturer data.

If project provenance is unclear, investigate the handover records first. Pre-repair, temporary commissioning and post-production-start backups serve different purposes. If only a file exported on a particular date exists, state that date and the machine's state honestly; a newer file does not prove machining validation.

Read differences without making inappropriate parameter changes

  1. Confirm both comparison objects belong to the same machine and agree in control series, machine type and axis correspondence.
  2. Review the distribution of differences, then record parameter name, associated axis, original value, current value and change provenance individually.
  3. Separate planned changes supported by work orders from unexplained differences; refer the latter to the person responsible for commissioning.
  4. Save the results and both projects for review. A screenshot alone often cannot reproduce the comparison.

Handover after confirming differences

Different does not automatically mean wrong. Replacement parts, added equipment or approved process adjustments may cause changes, but each needs a basis. Conversely, identical parameters do not establish identical wiring, mechanical condition, program version or machine-side logic, and cannot rule out every fault.

This article describes checking and archiving only; it does not call for online parameter writing. Restoration or modification requires a plan based on the machine's documentation and verification during a planned stoppage. For existing backup contents, see M70 system-file backup records (Chinese); for alarm evidence, see complete alarm-information records.
